Roblox has kicked off an exciting new platform-wide event called “The Takeover,” a graffiti-inspired competition designed to spotlight the diversity and creativity of its vast creator community. The event was officially revealed during the Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) 2025 and is live now, running from September 12 through September 25, 2025. However, some reports suggest the fun may last until September 26.
At the heart of “The Takeover” lies a vibrant virtual city called Tagtown, where players team up with their “Crew” to seize control of one of sixteen ownable zones. The event embraces what Roblox calls “co-opetition”—a mix of cooperation and competition. Crews must collaborate to capture zones, then defend them from rival groups. Each zone is tied to a unique game genre, and success comes from mastering that genre. With zones up for grabs every hour, the contest stays fresh, fast-paced, and unpredictable.
To join the action, players enter the event’s central Clubhouse, the main hub that connects to four themed districts:
- Strat University
- Adrenaline Heights
- Artists Alley
- Competition Park
Each district holds four zones, and each zone features three games with challenges across different difficulty levels.
Participation is flexible—users can play solo or join forces with a Crew. By completing challenges, they earn in-game credits, or “creds,” which unlock exclusive avatar items. Extra creds can also be earned by:
- Being the first to complete a challenge
- Joining or creating a Crew
- Completing daily quests
- Taking part in special “double creds days”
The event spans nearly 50 participating games, covering genres from survival and sports to strategy and roleplay. Some of the standout confirmed titles include:
- Survival: Pressure by Urbanshade: Hadal Division
- Sports: Tennis: Zero by Current x Blackstar
- Strategy: SpongeBob Tower Defense by Krabby Krew
- Roleplay: Dress To Impress by Dress to Impress Group
- Obby: Barry’s Prison Run by PlatinumFalls
Other popular additions are Doors, Murderers vs Sheriffs Duels, Untitled Boxing Game, and many more.
Best of all, “The Takeover” is accessible across all supported platforms—PC, console, mobile, and VR—making it easy for players everywhere to jump in. Beyond the competition itself, events like this highlight the incredible imagination of Roblox’s creator community while giving players new ways to explore, connect, and maybe even discover their next favorite game.
