Unlike monophonic calls that compress sound into a flat stream, Nokia’s innovation uses 3D audio to simulate a natural environment, allowing callers to feel each other’s presence as if they were in the same room.
According to Jenny Lukander, President of Nokia Technologies, this breakthrough represents a paradigm shift in live voice communications, similar to the introduction of monophonic telephony audio in smartphones and PCs.
The successful demonstration, conducted over a public 5G network using a standard smartphone, underlines the practicality of this advancement.
