Millions of players are hooked on Grow a Garden, its addictive mix of farming, events, and surprises. At the heart of its progression system is mutations—special variations of crops that skyrocket their value and give them unique appearances.

With recent updates, the mutation list has expanded, offering new ways to maximize profits and customize your garden.

What Are Mutations?

Mutations aren’t just about luck—although randomness plays a role. Many can be influenced by weather events, pets, or special gear. Some even stack, creating incredibly valuable crops.

Each mutation multiplies a crop’s base value, with bonuses ranging from a modest x2 all the way up to x150 for the rarest finds.

All Known Mutations in Grow a Garden (Late 2025)

Common Mutations (Easy to Obtain)

  • Wet (x2): Happens during Rain or Thunderstorms, or with sprinklers.
  • Chilled (x2): Triggered during Frost weather or applied by the Polar Bear pet.
  • Pollinated (x3): Occurs during Bee Swarm weather or via Honey Bee/Queen Bee pets.
  • Bloodlit (x4): Activated during a Blood Moon event.
  • Fall (x4): New from the Fall Market Update; obtainable via the event, the Grizzly Bear pet, or the Fall Fountain cosmetic.

Rare Mutations (More Challenging)

  • Frozen (x10): Requires both Wet and Chilled effects, or the Polar Bear pet.
  • Gold (x20): 1% natural chance on any crop; can also come from the Dragonfly pet.
  • Zombified (x25): Applied by the Chicken Zombie pet.
  • Twisted (x30): Linked to the rare Tornado weather event.
  • Rainbow (x50): Ultra-rare (0.1% chance); the Butterfly pet can apply it if a crop already has 5+ mutations.

Mythical and Event-Exclusive Mutations (Extremely Rare)

  • Shocked (x100): Occurs when struck by lightning; boost chances with a Lightning Rod.
  • Paradisal (x100): A fusion of Verdant + Sundried mutations.
  • Celestial (x120): Triggered by a meteor during a Meteor Shower event.
  • Disco (x125): Found during an admin-spawned Disco event or via the Disco Bee pet.
  • Void Touched (x135): Exclusive to the Black Hole admin weather event.
  • Dawnbound (x150): The rarest mutation, unlocked during the Sun God event or with an Ascended pet.

The New Pet Mutations System

The Pet Mutations Update introduced a brand-new twist: pets themselves can now mutate. These mutations enhance their passive powers, making them even more valuable allies in your garden.

  • Shocked Pet: Increases the chance of lightning strikes.
  • Ascended Pet: Can apply the ultra-powerful Dawnbound mutation.
  • Giant Pet: Boosts crop growth and efficiency.

This system adds another layer of strategy, letting you tailor both crops and pets for maximum profitability.
