The Day of the Jackal
This action thriller stars Eddie Redmayne as the assassin-for-hire known as Jackal, a character first introduced in Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 novel. Lashana Lynch plays Bianca, an MI6 agent determined to capture him, declaring, “I will find him and kill him myself.” As Jackal evades her with clever disguises, Bianca pursues him across Europe amid intense action. Redmayne, known for his sympathetic roles, found the complexity of playing a villain appealing. “You’re drawn to them and repelled by them in equal measure,” he told Vanity Fair. The cast also features Charles Dance and Richard Dormer, with the series created by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy).
The Day of the Jackal premieres on November 7 on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK, and on November 14 on Peacock in the US.
Bad Sisters
This dark comedy-drama, which won the 2023 BAFTA for Best Drama Series, follows the five Garvey sisters navigating the fallout from their past, particularly after Grace (Anne-Marie Duff) killed her abusive husband with her siblings’ help. In the second season, Grace marries a new love, played by Owen McDonnell, who is known for his role as Sandra Oh’s husband on Killing Eve. Created by Sharon Horgan, the series features Eva (Horgan) as the responsible sister, alongside Eve Hewson as the free-spirited Becka, Sarah Green as Bibi, and Eva Birthistle as Ursula, a nurse always in demand. New cast members include Fiona Shaw as a nosy neighbor and Thaddea Graham as a sharp young detective suspicious of the Garveys. The plot revolves around the sisters’ narrow escapes from trouble, making for an entertaining watch.
Bad Sisters premieres on November 13 on Apple TV+ internationally.
Say Nothing
Based on Patrick Raden Keefe’s compelling 2018 non-fiction book about the Troubles in 1970s Northern Ireland, this fact-based drama begins with the abduction of Jean McConville, a suspected IRA member, and explores the inner workings of the organization. Lola Pettigrew stars as Dolours Price, who, alongside her sister Marian (Hazel Doupe), was imprisoned for a 1973 car bomb in London. Maxine Peake portrays an older Dolours, who recounted her story in the documentary I, Dolours before her death in 2013. The cast also includes Anthony Boyle as IRA strategist Brendan Hughes and Josh Finan as Gerry Adams, a key figure in the 1998 Good Friday peace agreement, who has denied ties to the IRA. While rooted in history, the series’ themes of political violence remain relevant today.
Say Nothing premieres on November 14 on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
Cross
This crime series, based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels, has already been renewed for a second season before its premiere, signaling strong confidence. Aldis Hodge stars as Cross, a police detective and forensic psychologist in Washington, D.C., who is on the hunt for a serial killer. His best friend and partner, John Sampson (Isaiah Mustafa), supports him as Cross navigates the psychological challenges of his job while raising two small children. The novels have previously been adapted into three films, featuring Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry, but this new series aims for greater success and could mark a breakout role for Hodge.
Cross premieres on November 14 on Amazon Prime internationally.
Dune: Prophecy
A captivating aspect of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films is the Bene Gesserit, a powerful religious order of women. This spinoff explores their origin story, featuring Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), the mother of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet). Emily Watson stars as Valya Harkonnen, alongside Olivia Williams as her sister Tula, the order’s founders. “We like to say this show is set 10,000 years BC, meaning ‘Before Chalamet’,” Watson told Empire. Mark Strong plays Emperor Javicco Corrino, ruler of the Imperium. Anticipated as one of the season’s highlights, the series comes with a built-in Dune audience. Jessica Barden, portraying a younger Valya, suggests that the show may challenge expectations of the Harkonnens as purely villainous, asking, “Is this just a regular young person who wants to avenge something?” One constant? The vast, sandy landscapes remain unchanged.
Dune: Prophecy premieres 17 November on HBO and Max in the US and 18 November on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK
Landman
In a surprising blend of styles, Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Hamm star in this new series within the expanding Taylor Sheridan universe. Set in the Texas oil fields, Thornton plays Tommy Norris, a crisis manager for an oil company, while Hamm portrays Monty Miller, an oil baron with a shared history with Tommy and their families. The cast also includes Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, and Demi Moore as Monty’s wife, Cami. Created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, whose podcast Boomtown inspired the series, Landman is described by Paramount as “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, our geopolitics.” And yes, it’s also a soap opera.
Landman premieres on November 17 on Paramount+ in the US and November 18 in the UK.
Interior Chinatown
In this action dramedy, Jimmy O. Yang stars as Willis Wu, an actor stuck in small roles on a Law and Order-style show called Black & White. Adapted from Charles Yu’s 2020 novel, which is presented as a TV script, Interior Chinatown cleverly addresses Asian stereotypes and representation. Willis, feeling like “a background character in someone else’s story,” gets a chance to shine when Detective Lana Lee (Chloe Bennet) recruits him for a case, hoping it will lead him to his missing brother, who disappeared 12 years ago. Ronny Chieng plays his best friend, Fatty Choi, delivering comedic moments throughout. Taika Waititi, an executive producer, directed the first episode.
Interior Chinatown premieres on November 19 on Hulu in the US.
A Man on the Inside
Ted Danson, renowned for his roles in sitcoms from Cheers to The Good Place, stars in A Man on the Inside, a series based on the Oscar-winning Chilean documentary The Mole Agent. Danson plays Charles, a retired widower in San Francisco who takes on a spy role after answering an ad, going undercover at a nursing home to investigate potential abuses. Stephanie Beatriz portrays the home’s manager, while Stephen McKinley Henderson and Sally Struthers play residents. Created by Mike Schur, known for hit comedies like The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Parks and Recreation, this fictional adaptation promises a blend of humor and heart.
A Man on the Inside premieres on November 21 on Netflix internationally.
Get Millie Black
Created by Jamaican-born novelist Marlon James, known for his Booker Prize-winning A Brief History of Seven Killings, this crime series features Tamara Lawrance as Millie Black, a former Scotland Yard detective returning to Jamaica to join the Kingston police. With her partner Curtis (Gershwyn Eustache Jnr), Millie becomes involved in a troubling missing person’s case. Joe Dempsie, known as Gendry from Game of Thrones, plays Luke Holborn, sent from Scotland Yard to investigate a related case. In the trailer, Millie remarks, “This is just another story about Jamaica, but like every story about this country, this is a ghost story,” hinting at James’s blend of social commentary and crime.
Get Millie Black premieres on November 25 on HBO and Max in the US, and in 2025 on Channel 4 in the UK.

Framed for the murder, Muncie’s journey shifts from a polished public persona to hiding in a body of water. Domingo describes Muncie as “a unique protagonist” who holds centrist beliefs but is forced to confront and reevaluate his views as he navigates a chaotic world. “We do live in a very mad, mad world right now,” he notes.

The cast features Richard Gere as Martian’s boss, Jodie Turner-Smith as his ex, along with Jeffrey Wright, John Magaro, and Katherine Waterston. Written by playwrights Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, known for Edge of Tomorrow and Ford v Ferrari, and directed by Joe Wright (Darkest Hour), The Agency promises to deliver taut suspense reminiscent of its predecessor.
