Sonic the Hedgehog 3′ is set to release in theatres on December 20
Keanu Reeves, the Canadian actor famous for roles in The Matrix and John Wick, is set to voice the character Shadow in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie. According to director Jeff Fowler, Reeves has been dedicated to delivering a version of the character that stays true to the fans’ expectations.
During a Q&A at the Sonic Revolution’s Shadow Revolution stream, Fowler praised Reeves for his commitment to the role. “It’s incredible that we got Keanu to voice Shadow. He was an absolute pleasure to work with,” said the director. “He really understood the character and what we wanted to achieve, and he was genuinely excited to put his own spin on it.”
Fowler went on to share that Reeves didn’t just show up and read the script—he went the extra mile. “He gave us multiple takes of every line, bringing his own unique interpretation to the role,” Fowler explained. “He was totally invested in creating a version of Shadow that would resonate with fans.”
Reeves’ preparation for the role was nothing short of impressive. “In our first meeting, it was clear he had done his homework,” Fowler added. “He really cared about getting it right, and it shows in the final performance. I can’t say enough about how wonderful Keanu was to work with. Fans are going to love his take on Shadow.”
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to hit theaters on December 20, 2024, with a star-studded cast that includes Reeves, Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Krysten Ritter, and others.
