"Barry Keoghan Stars in New Fontaines D.C. Video 'Bug'"

“Barry Keoghan Stars in New Fontaines D.C. Video ‘Bug'”

Fontaines D.C. are an Irish post-punk band formed in Dublin in 2017.

Known for their energetic sound and poetic lyrics, they blend punk, rock, and post-punk influences. Their debut album, Dogrel (2019), gained critical acclaim, followed by the introspective A Hero’s Death (2020) and the culturally reflective Skinty Fia (2022). The band is recognized for their raw energy, literary lyrics, and powerful live performances.

Fontaines D.C. have teamed up with renowned English filmmaker Andrea Arnold for the music video of their track “Bug.”

Featured on the band’s latest album, Romance, the video was directed by Arnold and brings the song to life with a compelling mix of imagery. It includes scenes from her upcoming film Bird, which stars Barry Keoghan and the band’s own Carlos O’Connell, alongside other talents.

Andrea Arnold was kind enough to cut together a sequence to our tune ‘Bug,’ featuring Barry Keoghan playing the character Bug in her new movie Bird,” said O’Connell. “‘Bug’ is a song that happened quickly and convinced everyone even quicker. In my eyes, the character Bug, the tattoo ‘Bug’s Life,’ Andrea’s essential & romantic worlds, and the line ‘Changed my name to ‘Promise you, yeah,’ when all put together, make for convincing needlessness & undeniable conviction. Big thanks to Andrea Arnold for letting us so closely into her visionary universe. She’ll be remembered how we remember Bacon or Goya.”

Bird is Arnold’s fifth feature-length film and follows 2016’s American Honey. It also stars Franz Rogowski and Nykiya Adams and is slated for release this Friday, November 8.
