Exciting news for Ice Age fans: a new installment in the beloved animated franchise is on the way!
At D23 Brasil, Disney confirmed that Ice Age 6 is officially in development, with plans for a theatrical release in 2026. While the exact release date is still under wraps, the announcement has already set fans buzzing with anticipation.
In a heartwarming reveal,
Ray Romano—wrapped in a cozy blanket—shared the news with fans in a special video, marking the start of production on the sixth film. He’ll be returning to his iconic role as Manny the woolly mammoth, alongside other franchise favorites: John Leguizamo as Sid the sloth, Queen Latifah as Ellie the woolly mammoth, Denis Leary as Diego the saber-tooth tiger, and Simon Pegg as Buck the one-eyed weasel.
While plot details remain a mystery for now, the confirmation of a 2026 release means that fans will have to wait a full decade since Ice Age: Collision Course (2016) hit theaters. However, the franchise didn’t leave us completely ice-free during the hiatus—The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, a spinoff, premiered on Disney+ in 2022.
The Ice Age saga began in 2002 with the original film, followed by Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), and Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012). Now, a new chapter is about to unfold, bringing the frosty adventures to the big screen once again!
