Playing as Melinoë in Hades II feels both familiar and different from Zagreus in the first game. Melinoë is a powerful witch and the Princess of the Underworld, so her fighting style focuses more on magic, control, and smart positioning instead of just fast attacks.

Whether you are exploring Erebus or fighting enemies on the Surface, survival is not only about quick reflexes—it also requires good planning and understanding of game mechanics.

1. Prioritize Your Arcana Cards

Before starting a run, you must choose your Arcana Cards at the Altar of Ashes. This system replaces the Mirror of Night from the first game.

You have a limited amount of energy called “Grasp,” so you need to choose cards carefully based on your playstyle.

Important Arcana Cards:

  • The Wayward Son: Restores your health after leaving a location. Very helpful for beginners.
  • The Huntress: Increases your damage when your Magick is not full.
  • Titan: Gives you more Health and Magick.
