Djo Returns with New Single “Basic Being Basic” and Announces Upcoming Album and World Tour
Actor and musician Joe Keery, best known for his role in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, is making waves in the music world again under his musical project, Djo. Following the success of his viral track "End of Beginning" last year, Keery has just released a new single, “Basic Being Basic,” marking a fresh chapter for Djo ahead of the release of his third full-length album, The Crux, due on April 4, 2025. The new single’s quirky, synth-infused sound is already capturing the attention of fans and critics alike.
Keery, who continues to build his reputation as a multi-talented artist, wrote and recorded much of The Crux either solo or in collaboration with Adam Thein. This album signals a departure from the project’s previous synth-heavy focus, embracing a more organic sound with lush guitars and instrumentation that takes inspiration from the late '60s and early '70s pop era. For those familiar with Djo’s unique sound, this shift promises to be an exciting evolution.
With the release of The Crux just around the corner, Djo is set to embark on an extensive world tour, kicking off on the album’s release date. The tour will bring the music to eager fans across the globe, with stops including high-profile festivals like Coachella in April. As an added treat, the Chicago-based rock band Post Animal, of which Keery was once a member, will be joining Djo on the tour as the opening act.
Before the world tour begins, Djo will first make stops in Australia and New Zealand as part of the Laneway Festival in February, with a headlining show in Sydney on February 12. From there, Djo will bring The Crux to North American audiences, followed by a European leg of the tour in June. Fans can expect a blend of new tracks from the album alongside some of Djo’s most beloved hits.
Notably, Keery’s track “End of Beginning” became a surprise sensation in 2024, thanks to its viral success on TikTok. The song surged up the charts, landing in the top five in several countries and reaching No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. With over 1.3 billion streams on Spotify, the song became a major milestone for the artist, and many are eager to see if the upcoming album will carry that momentum.
