She died on December 8 in Los Angeles after a prolonged battle with illness, as confirmed by her publicist and friend, Daniel Harary.
Jacobson began her career after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting. She initially gained attention with the title role in the TV series Nurse Sherri. Over the years, she built a diverse and impressive career, appearing in several notable television shows, including Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Days of Our Lives, Hung, Newhart, Castle, and Who’s the Boss?
Her most memorable television roles included recurring characters Erin Jones on Falcon Crest and Larue Wilson on The New Gidget. Jacobson starred in 22 episodes of Falcon Crest and appeared in eight episodes of The New Gidget, showcasing her range as an actress. Caryn Richman, who co-starred with Jacobson on The New Gidget, shared a heartfelt tribute to her late friend: “Jill’s comic timing was brilliant. Her enthusiasm and love of life made our time together on set a joyful experience.”
