When the gates to the Ghoul Garden swing open in Grow a Garden, the atmosphere shifts—from cozy crop-care to delightfully eerie. At the heart of the update lies the legendary gear item known as the Jack-O-Jelly. If you’re a dedicated gardener-turned-pet-raiser, this is exactly the boost you’ve been waiting for.
What is Jack-O-Jelly?
The Jack-O-Jelly stands out as a Legendary-quality item—rare, desirable, and event-exclusive. In the Ghoul Garden Part 2 update, it was introduced to reward players who immerse themselves in the spooky festivities. Everyone who feeds their crops and tends to the farm now has the chance to shift gears: now it’s about collecting that Candy Corn event currency and gearing up for the Halloween leaf-through. Simply put: want your pet to level up fast? You’re going to want that Jack-O-Jelly.
The Primary Method: The Halloween Gear Box
The fastest route to snagging Jack-O-Jelly is via the Halloween Gear Box, which sits in the special Ghostly Gadgets stall within the seasonal Halloween Market. Here’s how you go about it:
1. Collect Candy Corn.
Candy Corn is the core currency of the event. It’s earned principally by feeding crops into the Witch’s Cauldron. The more unusual or rare your crop, the bigger your contribution—so pushing for rarer harvests means earning Candy Corn faster.
2. Visit the Ghostly Gadgets shop.
This temporary stall appears during the event. You’ll find it among the Halloween Market’s themed offerings.
3. Purchase the Halloween Gear Box for 30 Candy Corn.
You’ll pay 30 Candy Corn for each Gear Box, giving you a chance to hit the jackpot.
4. Open the Halloween Gear Box.
When you open it, one of the items you could receive is the Jack-O-Jelly. It boasts a drop chance of approximately 23.81%, meaning roughly one in every four-plus boxes will contain it—making it one of the more common valuable drops in the event’s loot pool.
Other possible rewards in the box:
- Bland Jelly
- Dig Trinket
- Sugar Watering Can
- Pumpkin Lollipop
- Rare Toffee Tether
So while Jack-O-Jelly is the big prize, the box still delivers solid value.
Alternate Method: Dead Tree Quests
If you’re looking for an alternate—perhaps slower—route to the gear box (and thus the Jack-O-Jelly), you can try your luck via the Dead Tree quests.
The Dead Tree is a new interactive element introduced in Part 2 of the Ghoul Garden event—think of it as a special task node that invites you to complete specific objectives. By fulfilling the Dead Tree’s quests, you have a chance of being rewarded with a Halloween Gear Box. The drop chance here is about 5.04%, so it’s much less reliable than the direct purchase route—but it’s a welcome bonus if you’re already engaging with the event naturally.
Strategy: Maximize Your Chances
Here are some friendly tips to help you make the most of the event:
- Prioritize feeding rare crops into the Witch’s Cauldron. Higher-tier crops mean more Candy Corn per batch.
- Keep an eye on the Witch’s Cauldron feed-in schedule—some events allow bonus XP or bonus Candy Corn for certain crops at specific times.
- Every time you earn 30 Candy Corn, consider opening a Gear Box—since the odds for Jack-O-Jelly are quite favourable.
- If you’re tackling Dead Tree quests, track which ones you’ve completed, and rotate through them to avoid burnout or repetition.
- Make sure you complete as many event-tasks as possible before the clock runs out—the Ghoul Garden event is time-limited, so don’t wait until the last minute.
