Shaktimaan was one of the most beloved TV shows for children in the ’90s, and after 19 years, the iconic superhero is set to make his return. Mukesh Khanna, who played the legendary character, has shared the exciting news himself.
The show, which made Khanna a household name, is returning with a teaser that harks back to the Y2K era, generating mixed reactions online. Despite the nostalgic feel, fans are eager for more details.
Khanna recently posted , giving followers a sneak peek of Shaktimaan’s comeback with a poster and a teaser video. In the clip, Shaktimaan is seen flying and landing at a school, where he sings a song about freedom, reflecting on the legacy of India’s freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Subhas Chandra Bose.
However, Khanna also addressed some confusion about his role in the show. On Instagram, he clarified:
“I’ve come to clear a misunderstanding that some viewers might have. Through this song and press conference, I did not announce that I will be the next Shaktimaan. That’s absolutely wrong. Let me explain:
1. Why would I say I’m the next Shaktimaan? I am Shaktimaan. The only Shaktimaan that exists. There can only be another Shaktimaan when there is a Shaktimaan—and that is me. Without me, there cannot be another. It’s my legacy to uphold.
2. Secondly, I’m not here to prove that I’m better than Ranveer Singh, or anyone else who may wear the mantle of Shaktimaan. The title of Shaktimaan is unique, and I will always be the first and the original.”
