UG, PG exams cancelled in Rajasthan Due to Covid – 19

Rajsthan Government announced the cancellation of UG and PG exams for all the colleges, universities and all the education institutes for the academic year 2019 – 2020.

The state government has decided to promote all students to the successive class without examinations. The decision is applicable to both private and open institutions. The process to determine marks of the students and the promotion to the next class will be decided after examining the guideline which will be issued by the Minister of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the state government said.

The Higher Minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati said the decision was taken giving incomparable priority to student’s health.
“The possibility of holding exams was rewieved repeatedly and again lastly we concluded that holding exams can endanger the health of our kids,” said Bhati.

“All students will be promoted to the next class without examination. In relation to the determination of marks of the students being promoted, a suitable decision will be taken by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, after studying the guidelines issued in the next few days.”

It was expected that the exams would get deferred and not dropped. According to reports, the conditional timetable discharged on the official site of the college expresses that the post-graduate final year exams will be conducted from July 15 to August 18, 2020, while exams for under-graduate will start from July 15 and will finish up on September 7, 2020.

Prior, the Supreme Court of India rejected the appeal recorded by guardians on dropping pending tests of class 10 and 12, saying that the state has overseen different tests very well keeping up social separating. The announcement came after a weeklong protest by student groups demanding cancellation of exams. Student group, including NSUI and ABVP, had taken to the social media demanding cancellation of university exams and promotion to next classes along with fee waiver for upcoming academic session. #JitegaChatra, Jitega Rajasthant initiated by Rajasthan NSUI was trending on Twitter jointly contributed by students, NSUI and ABVP activists.
