Ranbir-Deepika’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Re-Releasing in Cinemas; Karan Johar Excited to See Gen Z’s Reaction

Mumbai/IBNS: Filmmaker and producer Karan Johar is thrilled to see how Gen Z will react to the 2013 hit Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which is making a comeback on the big screen. The beloved Hindi film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in the lead, will be re-released across 140 PVR Inox Cinemas in 46 cities on January 3, 2025.

This re-release follows the success of another Dharma Productions classic, Kal Ho Naa Ho, which was re-released on November 15, further solidifying the growing trend of bringing iconic films back to theaters.

PVR INOX has made re-releases a signature strategy, bridging generations by introducing Gen Z and Gen Alpha to these timeless stories while offering older audiences a chance to relive their nostalgic memories.

Movies like Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein and Rockstar have shown the box office potential of re-releases, establishing this trend as a key part of modern cinema programming.

Karan Johar shared his excitement, saying, “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has a special place in the heart of Dharma Productions. With its incredible music, breathtaking locations, beloved actors, and a story that resonates with all generations, it’s the perfect film to start the new year. Director Ayan Mukerji also reflected on the film’s impact, saying, “This movie feels like my second child, a piece of my heart and soul. Over a decade later, I can confidently say that creating it was one of the greatest joys of my life. The film, with all its imperfections and perfection, remains a source of immense pride.”

Apart from Ranbir and Deepika, the film also stars Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur in pivotal roles.
