Saif Ali Khan Knife Attack : Actor ‘Out of Danger’ After Surgery
Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan is currently on the mend after being viciously attacked by an intruder in the early hours of January 16, 2025, at his Mumbai residence.
The actor, who sustained multiple injuries in what appears to be a burglary attempt, is now reportedly out of danger following an emergency surgery. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police have launched a thorough investigation, identifying one of the accused in the shocking incident.
The Violent Attack: Intruder Strikes in the Dead of Night
At around 2:30 AM, Saif Ali Khan’s life was thrown into chaos when an unidentified intruder attacked him at his luxurious 12th-floor flat in the Satguru Sharan building. Preliminary investigations suggest that the intruder did not break into the apartment but might have sneaked in earlier in the night before launching the brutal attack.
The actor was stabbed six times—two minor injuries, two intermediate, and two deep wounds, one of which was dangerously close to his spine. A neurosurgeon was quickly involved to handle the critical nature of the injury. The intruder, after committing the heinous act, fled the scene, leaving the actor bleeding.
A Quick Response: Surgery and Recovery
Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors swiftly removed the knife lodged near his spine. According to Dr. Uttamani, the Chief Operating Officer at the hospital, “Saif sustained six injuries, including a serious one close to the spine. The surgery was a success, and the knife was removed promptly.”
Thankfully, after a tense few hours, Saif’s team announced that he had emerged from the surgery and was “out of danger.” He is now recovering, with his doctors closely monitoring his progress. The statement from his team also confirmed that all family members, including wife Kareena Kapoor, are safe.
The Investigation: Police Act Swiftly
The Mumbai Police have formed 10 special teams to investigate the incident and apprehend the attacker. DCP Dixit Gedam confirmed that the intruder had entered the home with burglary intentions, though the exact timeline of his entry remains unclear. CCTV footage shows the assailant attacking Saif but not entering the flat forcibly.

While the investigation is ongoing, the incident has sparked concern among political leaders and the public. Opposition parties have voiced their worries about the safety of Mumbai residents and demanded action from the Maharashtra government, specifically from Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
In response, Fadnavis acknowledged the seriousness of the attack but defended the city’s safety, stating it would be unfair to label Mumbai as unsafe based on this isolated incident. Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, criticized the Opposition for attempting to politicize the attack.
A City on Edge: Safety Concerns Rise
The shocking assault on one of Bollywood’s biggest stars has raised questions about the security of Mumbai’s residents, particularly high-profile personalities. The city, known for its cosmopolitan nature, is now under the spotlight as citizens and leaders demand a stronger focus on safety and law enforcement.
As the investigation continues and the search for the intruder intensifies, Saif Ali Khan’s fans and the general public hope for swift justice and a quick recovery for the actor.
