The new trailer for Better Man, the semi-autobiographical film about Robbie Williams, just landed—and it’s already tugging at our heartstrings.
In the brief yet powerful clip, we see a young Robbie portrayed as a CGI baby monkey with big, soulful eyes that instantly break your heart. The trailer offers a glimpse into Williams’ childhood, touching on his dreams of stardom, his time with Take That, and his eventual decision to go solo.
Directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman), Better Man features reimagined versions of Williams‘ iconic hits like “Angels,” “Let Me Entertain You,” and “She’s The One,” all performed by the man himself. Jonno Davies lends his voice and motion capture skills to the adorable monkey, adding an unconventional but deeply emotional touch to the biopic.
With glowing reviews and an 87% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Better Man premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on August 30. The film will hit theaters in Australia on December 26, in the UK on Boxing Day, and will have limited screenings in the US starting December 25, with a wider release beginning January 17.
