Mufasa is ahead of Deadpool and Wolverine on box office collection? How Much Has Mufasa: The Lion King Earned at the Box Office?
Disney’s latest animated adventure, Mufasa: The Lion King, has crossed a major milestone at the Indian box office, surpassing a gross collection of 100 crores.
The film becomes the third Hollywood release of 2024 to achieve this feat, joining the ranks of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Deadpool & Wolverine.
Directed by Barry Jenkins, Mufasa hit the 100-crore mark on its second Saturday (9th day), with the end-of-day gross expected to touch an impressive 108+ crores (including 3D charges). The film has benefited from the star power of Bollywood’s Shah Rukh Khan and South Indian superstar Mahesh Babu, who lent their voices for the Hindi and Telugu versions, respectively.
Breaking down the numbers, the English version of Mufasa is the largest contributor, raking in around 39 crores, followed closely by the Hindi version with 37 crores. The Telugu and Tamil versions have contributed approximately 32 crores combined in just nine days. This impressive performance indicates the film’s strong hold over the Indian market, especially during its second weekend.
Mufasa is set to overtake Godzilla x Kong (134 crores gross) this week, making it the second highest-grossing Hollywood film of the year in India. The film will also look to challenge Deadpool 3 (169 crores gross) in its lifetime run, aiming to claim the top spot for 2024.
