Ahead of its Berlin premiere last year, we had the privilege of watching the film and were blown away by its impact, giving it a glowing four-star review.
Here’s what we had to say:
Last Swim is a stunning debut from Nathwani, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Helen Simmons. The film grabs your attention from the start, with an ensemble of teens whose chemistry is simply magnetic. The dynamic between the group is heartwarming and full of energy, and the arrival of rising football star Malcolm (played by Denzel Baidoo) adds a new layer of depth to the story. The on-screen chemistry between Ziba and Malcolm is undeniable, gradually unfolding into a beautiful romance, brilliantly portrayed through the performances of the two leads.
